England & Lyle was set up by John England and Ian Lyle in December 1995. England & Lyle Ltd was subsequently formed in July 2008.
Based in Darlington we are now one of the largest town planning practices in the North East and have recently expanded into the North West with new offices in Preston. We can assist clients with planning applications and appeals / inquiries / hearings, enforcement, lawful development certificates, LDF representations, development briefs, sustainability appraisals, design statements, master plans, community involvement exercises and regeneration studies.

We offer a full range of town planning and development services including assistance with planning applications and appeals / inquiries / hearings, enforcement, lawful development certificates, development plan representations, preparation of development briefs, sustainability appraisals, design statements, master plans, community involvement exercises and regeneration studies.
We also offer assistance in specialist areas, in particular: retail planning and impact assessment, economic impact advice, renewable energy development, listed buildings and conservation areas and urban design. We have also seconded staff to assist local authorities, providing specific development control expertise. We have experience of leading and working as part of multi-discipline teams on large scale developments, including environmental impact assessments.
