Short profile:
Engaines School is a Foundation Primary School with places for a maximum of 270 children. Primarily we provide places for the children of families who live within our Parish Boundaries and these take up about 55% of the places available. The rest of the places are taken up by people from the surrounding area of which a large proportion of those come from the town of Clacton.
Detailed description:
School opens at 8.00 a.m. for the start of Breakfast Club. We offer those who attend a good breakfast of toast or cereals with a selection of fruit juices. Activities are varied from physical activities to games such as table tennis, table football, air hockey to a quiet area for reading, writing or colouring.
The curriculum is enriched through the use of special displays, visiting experts and a termly visit out, all intended to add excitement and enjoyment to the children’s studies. Year 6 children take part in a residential visit to an outdoor activity centre in their last term at the school.
The range of after school activities has been extended this year and we are now able to offer opportunities to children in both key stages.
Music tuition is available for guitar, violin, drums, piano and clarinet.
We have a school choir who take part in public performances throughout the year.
As well as the Drama Club, all children participate in productions held throughout the year, KS1 and KS2 separately at Christmas and a KS2 production in the summer term.
We have regular Class Assemblies and a weekly Awards Assembly.
The school takes part in a number of competitive leagues and tournaments in which we have some successes.
