Standard Assessment Procedures (SAPs) are used to demonstrate compliance with L1 of the Building Regulations and are a mandatory requirement for any new dwelling being constructed. A SAP assessment covers 5 criterions namely carbon dioxide emissions, U values, services, lighting and overheating.
These assessments are carried out in two stages. Firstly, a new dwelling has a Target Emission Rating (TER) calculated based on the dwelling's size, shape, and form. Secondly, the Dwelling Emissions Rating (DER) is calculated and this is based on all the actual design specifics. In order to pass the Building Regulations, the DER must be no greater than the TER.
Only authorised SAP assessors are permitted to produce SAP energy certificates.
As National Home Energy Rating (NHER) Approved Plan Assessors, we are able to produce the calculation promptly and at a realistic price. Energy Access will undertake the calculations from your drawings and specifications and liaise with you to enable the building to comply without compromising the design.
Our assessors are very experienced with a technical construction background. Therefore any suggestions we offer to make a design work, will be achievable and practical to do. We are FAERO approved competent persons for Energy Assessments and Faero Ltd is designated in the Regulations as the Competent Person scheme for CO2 emission rate calculations.
Under the revisions to Part L1A of the Building Regulations, there is a mandatory requirement to carry out an air tightness pressure test on any new dwelling. Our experienced and qualified surveyors will liaise with your construction programme and visit your site to carry out the test in an efficient and professional manner. We will then supply you with the appropriate documentation for submission to your building control body.
