Detailed description:

Elizabeth qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2002. She has worked solely with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders since graduating. Elizabeth has held a number of posts since qualification. Her most recent role is as Clinical Lead for Speech and Language Therapy within a regional service. She has extensive experience on a regional rehabilitation unit assessing and treating adult clients with a range of communication and swallowing needs. These difficulties may be the result of stroke, traumatic brain injury, progressive diseases e.g. MS, neurosurgery or other neurological condition. She is able to manage clients with tracheostomies and those with a profound brain injury (i.e. vegetative and minimally conscious states). Elizabeth regularly undertakes medico-legal reports in the area of adult acquired neurological speech and language difficulties. She has produced reports for both criminal and civil cases. The current break down is 20% defence and 80% for prosecution. Elizabeth is able to offer an assessment within two weeks of receiving the necessary paperwork. The report should then be with the instructing firm within ten working days of the assessment. Reports required for court appearances can be produced more quickly by prior arrangement. She has attended Bond Solon training in written evidence and court room skills. Elizabeth has experience of providing assesment and therapy to offenders within HMP service.
