The South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (the EOC) is a purpose-built Centre of Excellence for hip replacement and knee replacement surgery. We also perform ankle, foot, shoulder and spinal operations. You will experience world class health care at the largest state-of-the-art orthopaedic treatment centre in the UK.
Detailed description:
At the Elective Orthopaedic Centre (the EOC) in South West London, we aim to provide a 'home away from the home' experience during your ankle, foot, hip, knee, shoulder or spine operation. You will experience world class care at the EOC which is the largest state-of-the-art treatment centre for all orthopaedic surgery in UK, particularly for hip replacement and knee replacement. We utilise the latest techniques and technologies to reduce pain and get you back to normal in the shortest, safest way possible.
We are a Centre of Clinical Excellence with the latest surgical and technological advancements, an excellent track record short length of stay and a low 0.1% infection rate for four years running. You can be assured you're in safe hands with our team which is led by renowned surgeons and a highly skilled, friendly and energetic nursing team. We also welcome your participation in our major research and development programme that is informing the orthopaedic clinical community across the globe and helping to improve quality of life for all.
The centre currently provides a total of 65 beds (two 25-bed post-operative wards and a 15-bed recovery suite with high dependency and critical care facilities) and has four state-of-the-art orthopaedic operating theatres. SWLEOC operated on its first patient in January 2004. Her Majesty the Queen formally opened the hospital in March 2004 as a trailblazer for the NHS Diagnostic and Treatment Centre programme.
