Short profile:
Equine Thermography is completely non-invasive and non-contact. It is ‘real-time’, revealing changes in physiology as they are happening rather than looking at tissue after it has been damaged. Temperature change is the first thing that changes when things are going wrong. Equine Thermography will reveal those heat changes. A thermogram provides information on the normal and abnormal functioning of the sensory and sympathetic nervous systems, vascular dysfunction, myofascial trauma and local inflammatory processes in the horse.
Thermography is an excellent adjunct to clinical examination as well as being complementary to other imaging techniques such as radiology, ultrasonography, and scintigraphy. A human touch cannot identify changes in temperature of less than 2-3 degrees, however, a thermal camera can “see” and detect changes of less than 0.1 degree, making it easy to identify problem areas where heat is not obvious to the touch.
Detailed description:
My name is Elaine Hall and I am a fully trained Equine Thermographer. I offer a professional service using the very latest Infra-red imaging equipment to provide a full imaging service for horse owners, trainers, vets and other equine professionals. I provide a report that meets the standards and protocol expected in the Veterinary industry in both written and digital forms.
I travel to your premises where I perform a thermal examination adhering to a strict industry standard protocol. The examination is a non-contact technique that provides a pictorial representation of the surface temperature of the horse’s body.
A complete, full body scan will highlight any area needing more critical evaluation.
