Short profile:

The costs involved in bringing a garden on this scale back to life are BIG so we are a small team who work very hard. The whole project is overseen by me, Ursula Cholmeley.

We have three gardeners who also do other work on the estate so they work very hard to make sure the gardens look as best they can through the seasons. They are Stephen Marsland, the first employee for the gardens in fifty years and now Senior Gardener, Tim Metcalf- Kemp who has taken on the walled kitchen garden as his particular area and Nick Dalby who runs the vegetable supplies for the tearoom, plant sales and gives tours.

The office is run by Landy Hosli who organises all group bookings amongst her many and varied responsibilities. You could find Landy, me or Nick in the shop on any open day or maybe a (hopefully well trained) student.

The tearoom is now back in hand, has been redecorated and is being run by Davina Morgan. Cakes are homemade by Davina, who is also my sister in law. Lucy Dawes arranges the changing displays of flowers every week.

In the winter we rely heavily on help from the farm to do some of the work that is not possible during the open season. This may include hedge planting, car park creation and maintenance, fencing and tree surgery. We also have volunteers who help plant bulbs, weed the wildflower terraces and work in the cottage garden.
