Short profile:
Founded in 1981, DSB Offshore operate as brokers and consultants in the offshore and civil construction industries on an international basis.
DSB Offshore have been leading specialists in the sale & purchase and charter of jackups for over 20 years.
Jackups are barges (generally non-propelled) which raise themselves above the water on 'legs' (piles) by means of a hydraulic (or occasionally pneumatic) jacking system.
They are often used with a crane for piling at locations which are exposed; also where barges cannot be used in a harbour due to the disturbance caused by tidal movement and the wake of passing vessels.
Detailed description:
DSB is particularly active in selling vessels which include: tugs, jackups, barges, splitbarges, dredgers, accommodation barges and workboats.
Since the early 1980’s DSB Offshore have built up a global client base of vessel owners with whom we have nurtured long standing relationships and who we use to locate equipment worldwide.
Jack-ups have been used extensively for assistance in erection of offshore wind farms. Their roles have included piling support, turbine erection and also alongside storage for blades etc. They are used for site surveys and the erection of metmasts.
A significant number are employed as accommodation platforms offshore during oil and gas projects.
They are otherwise known as self-elevating platforms (SEPs) or simply jackups. In the States, the three-legged variety are known as liftboats.
