Detailed description:
A healthcare profession concerned with improving human function and movement in a variety of settings.
At Dorking Physiotherapy Clinic we specialise in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, including spinal and sports injuries. As well as core Physiotherapy skills of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and application of electro-physical modalities (e.g. ultrasound, lazer, TENS), our team have post graduate expertise in Pilates, acupuncture, spinal manipulation and injection therapy.
An exciting recent addition to our team is Pippa Graham, a Neurological Physiotherapist specialising in rehabilitation in Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Brain Injury.
A hands on clinical approach to Physiotherapy including
but not limited to joint manipulation and mobilisation.
The approach is used to assess and treat soft tissue and joint structures in order to reduce pain, increase range of motion, reduce inflammation, induce relaxation, improve tissue repair and improve function.
All musculoskeletal physiotherapists are skilled in applying mobilisation techniques safely, although use of joint manipulation is less common and usually practiced by those having undergone specialist post graduate training. Manipulation is practiced by a number of different professions and known variously as adjustment, high velocity thrust, manipulation with impulse and grade V mobilization. The common feature is that they achieve a ‘popping’ or ‘cracking’ sound.
At Dorking Physiotherapy Clinic we believe a multi-modal approach achieves results, combining manual therapy with other forms of treatment including core stability exercise, Pilates, proprioceptive training, acupuncture etc.
