Short profile:

DIY is an established Theatre Company of learning disabled performers. We have been creating entertaining, accessible and thought-provoking theatre since 1994. Our devised performances and other projects challenge stereotypes, promote inclusion and celebrate creativity.

DIY meets as a full company of twelve members on Tuesdays between 10-30 a.m. and 2-30 p.m. at The Angel Centre in Salford. We do warm ups and drama exercises, make performances and rehearse our shows.

Six times per year, on Tuesday afternoons, we hold our Company Meetings. These involve all our members and this is when we do a lot of our project planning and plan special events. We take it in turns to chair these meetings and usually we have two chairs.

Once every two years we hold special Membership Meetings when we look at our dreams and ambitions for the future. We create a DIY “path” of what we want to do as DIY Theatre Company.

We use theatre, music, video and design to tell our stories.
