Digit Hill Ltd was setup by Martin Burton in January 2006. Martin operates as a freelance contractor, working privately through 3rd party design agencies, or directly with SME businesses and charities. For non-disclosure reasons Martin can not disclose details of private contracts, however past projects have involved commissions by blue chip clients such as HSBC. Detailed description:
Martin has a history of working within the design arena. After studying A-level Art & Design at school, Martin went on to complete a foundation year in Higher Level Art & Design disciplines followed by a BA (Hons) Degree in Industrial Design at Sheffield Hallam University (1997). In 2003, after developing an interest in web design, Martin attended Leeds Metropolitan University to complete a 3 year course in Computer Studies.
The combination of these new skills with an extensive design background meant that Martin was well placed to develop a career in Web Development. By 2005, Martin became the lead Web Developer at Capita Insurance Services, heading up a small team of developers responsible for the development/infrastructure proposals and ongoing maintenance of all websites and intranets throughout the division. All systems were updated by business users across the country using bespoke Content Management Systems, developed using the Microsoft .NET framework, and SQL Server databases.
In 2006 Martin left Capita to establish Digit Hill Ltd. Since then Martin has worked on many new and challenging web projects from open source PHP/ mySQL projects to Flash/XML based online games. Martin continues to adapt with the ever changing face of the internet, keeping up to date with the very latest Web 2.0 technologies and standards.
