Detailed description:
We use a computerised appointment system. Appointments can be made over the telephone or by calling in and speaking to one of the reception team. You will normally be able to see the doctor of your choice, but may have to wait longer for a convenient appointment. As from the 1st December 2011 we have a new appointment system in place, Please telephone the practice where the receptionist will be able to help you. If there are no appointments available and your appointment is urgent then you will be put onto a triage list for the doctor on call to telephone you back. If you cannot keep your appointment please ring and cancel it as soon as possible so that it can be offered to someone else. The receptionist may ask the nature of your condition, to ensure you are seen by the correct person. This information is treated in the strictest of confidence.
We make every effort to see patients on time however, complicated and serious illnesses can cause delays. Each appointment should be for one person only and one problem only. Presenting more than one patient or problem at a single consultation causes delays to subsequent patients. Please telephone the surgery before 10.00 am if you feel you may need a home visit. These should only be requested for patients who are too ill to travel to the surgery and not for social and/or convenience reasons. Please only ask for a home visit if it is really necessary. Home visits are time consuming and there are better facilities for examining and treating you in surgery.
When requesting a home visit please be prepared to give our staff full details of your symptoms. This will help the doctor assess the urgency of the visit. We will also need a contact telephone number, as you may be phoned prior to the visit by the doctor. The surgery will decide which doctor will make the home visit and this will depend upon the number of visits and the locality they are in. Requests for home visits made after 10.00 am should be for emergencies only.
