Devon Partnership NHS Trust was established in 2001. We employ around 2, 000 staff and also have around 100 staff assigned from Devon County Council and Torbay Unitary Authority, including social workers and support workers. We serve a large geographical area with a population of more than 850, 000 people.

Detailed description:

The Trust Board of Directors is publicly accountable for the running of the Trust and holds corporate responsibility for its actions. The Executive Directors of the Trust represent the interests of both the locality and specialist services as well as the strategies which help the Trust to achieve its organisational goals and objectives. The Non-executive Directors of the Trust share responsibility with the other directors of the Trust for the success of the organisation.

They have a particular responsibility to ensure that the Board of Directors act in the best interests of the public and is fully accountable to the public for the services provided within the public funds it uses. Non-executive Directors can ensure that the interests of people who use Trust services and the community remain at the heart of the Board¹s discussions.

As well as having corporate responsibility, our non-executive directors hold interests in specific areas, working closely with managers, staff, people who use services and carers, They provide a link between local people and the management of the Trust
