Design-Nation has three main activities. It promotes the excellence of British design, it manages the Eureka project (which creates links between designers, retailers and manufacturers) and it helps designers with business training after they leave college.
Until November 2005 Design-Nation was a working name of The Design Trust (TDT). TDT's activities are now carried on within the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design of London Metropolitan University, but they maintain their separate identity under the 'Design-Nation' name and are being further developed. They continue to be directed by Peta Levi, M.B.E., whose commitment to British design and design education has achieved international acclaim.

The Design Trust operates under the banner of Design-Nation to promote the excellence of British design internationally and to provide business support to designers wishing to set up in business. The Design Trust, a registered charity established in 1994, has enabled many hundreds of designers to establish successful businesses. Peta Levi, MBE is the director of both The Design Trust and Design-Nation, and pioneered New Designers, the annual exhibition that provides a platform for art and design graduates to launch into the commercial world. The focus of The Design Trust is to seek out the best designers working in the UK to become members of Design-Nation and to promote their work and services nationally and internationally.
This website, the associated catalogue, membership scheme and the educational activities of The Design Trust have been made possible through the generous help of many sponsors from the public sector, the City, industry and commerce, retailers and private individuals.
Design-Nation is a membership organization of nearly 200 designers selected by an independent panel of industry professionals. These designers are promoted on this showcase website and in the associated catalogue. Membership also gives them access to bursary schemes at major exhibitions such as 100% Design and networking events with industry professionals such as buyers, retailers and manufacturers.
