Short profile:
In the early 1970's when I finished my education I worked for my brother in his radio and television business.
It was about the time automatic washing machines were becoming popular and as we were frequently asked to repair these I learnt to do that.
Detailed description:
As I was responsible for the domestic appliance side of the business we decided to split this from the radio side, and in 1979 I started on my own, although we still shared the premises.
I mostly did breakdown repairs and this led to machine replacement for un-repairable items. I also did a lot of reconditioning and with the gradual expansion of the business new sales increased.
In 1987 I had the opportunity to acquire The Croft Showroom which gave me the space to display more products and further expand the business.
I have been fortunate with staff and now have Chris out and about in the service van, Sheila (Sister in law) in the shop and John (Son in law) in the workshop and doing deliveries and installation. My wife Wendy helps me by looking after the wages and staff holidays leaving me the general running of the business.
