Short profile:
Community Enterprise Derby is a Community Interest Company (CIC) owned by Community Action Derby - the leading infrastructure organisation in the city.
We were established in October 2009 to deliver the worklessness contracts on behalf of Community Action and to enable surpluses to be generated that can be re-invested into the Charity.
Detailed description:
Community Action will then be able to provide services for its members that are not currently or adequately funded.
CICs are a new Government initiative promoting an alternative legal structure for charities and social enterprises. A CIC is a type of company which uses it's profits and assets for public good - they tend to be social enterprises. They are easy to set up and have special features to prove they are working for the benefit of the local community.
Through a contract with A4e, we work with unemployed people who have been claiming jobseekers allowance for 12 months and are still struggling to find work.
We use a variety of techniques to support the customer; we run tailored job search, update CV's, support with application forms and find a 4 week work placement with a local employer
Through a contract with Intraining Group, we work with young unemployed people aged 18 - 24 years old who have been claiming jobseekers allowance for at least six months.
Again a very personalised approach, we work together to raise their employability levels through job search, updating CV's, interview techniques supported by a 13 week work placement with a voluntary or community group.
A DWP scheme to create 312 jobs in Derby by March 2011, it's business as usual for Community Enterprise Derby! The scheme provides full funding for local employers who can demonstrate community benefit and a new job suitable for young people aged 18 - 24 years old who have been claiming jobseekers allowance for six months.
We support both the customer and the employer in the job creation and work together during the 26 weeks to develop
skills and find sustainable employment.
