Della is a research expert and her clients range from Architects, Engineers, Interior Designers to Health and Safety Professionals.
Busy professionals may think that they don’t need librarians or researchers any more – they have Google! – but Google can be a sledge hammer, when what you need is a nutcracker!
If you find that it is taking hours to find the piece of vital information that you need on the internet, then it might be better to spend a short amount of time briefing an expert in research and Internet searching, than wasting your own much more expensive and fee-earning time.
My clients range from Architects, Engineers, Interior Designers to Health and Safety Professionals, amongst others, and they have all realised that their time is too valuable to spend surfing the net – they need targeted and valuable answers to technical questions, and this is information that I am able to provide in a fraction of the time that it would take them, and do it cheaper!
Detailed description:
I have worked with Architects and Engineers for many years, and I am currently librarian, information consultant and researcher (on a freelance basis) to several practices, running their library and information units, undertaking research, and setting up and maintaining their technical, reference and trade libraries.
I am able to maintain a reference library of technical texts, current legislation, Building Regulations, contract documentation, British Standards, and internal company reports etc., as well as “weeding-out”, organising, updating and maintaining trade literature.
I provide research services, from answering queries on Building Regulations, to investigating the cancer risks of mobile phone posts near schools, or producing weekly lists of OJEU tender opportunities!.
I also make sure that all my clients are kept up to date with changes in the construction industry on a regular basis, e.g. Building Regulations, legislation, health and safety etc. All my clients receive a regular monthly information bulletin, either during my visit, or as an extra for those with more infrequent visits.
I provide as much or as little service as is required, and currently I have one client that I visit 6 times a month, and others, once only every three months, although most visits are once a month.
I aim to support my clients by offering research and/or advice from my own offices, so that for those urgent requests, I am always available, from a quick telephone answer to more in depth research carried out in the evenings or weekends.
