Short profile:
The School was founded in Lenzie in 1993 with 14 students, under the name: "The Zoe Bell School of Dance". A second school was opened in Milngavie in 1999. The end of year performances were initially held at the Kirkintilloch Town Hall and then progressed to the Mitchell Theatre. The shows have been held at The Clyde Auditorium ("Armadillo") since 2005. The seniors have performed in The River Festival, events at The Science Centre (workshops, etc), lectures with the BATD, events at Mar Hall and were invited to perform in the first ever dance festival at The Theatre Royal.
Detailed description:
Former students have danced aboard Cruise ships, in Scottish Ballet, The Dance School Of Scotland, and The New York Theatre School. The School currently has 8 teachers who are qualified to a minimum of Associate BATD standard and are all former students. Principal Teacher Miss Zoe, has choreographed and performed in the dance sketches on Hogmanay's BBC TV show "Only An Excuse" and more recently in the TV series "River City". Miss Zoe has choreographed and participated in many wedding and modelling shows thoroughout Scotland and came 6th in the World Baton Twirling Championships in Paris when she was only 12 years old. She has also performed in many variety shows at The King's Theatre and The Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow.
