Detailed description:
At Stevenage we combine comfort and privacy with strong physical security arrangements. Service users have their own room with en-suite shower, and each ward has a large open lounge with television and DVD player, and access onto a courtyard. There is a separate quiet lounge, also with a television.
Facilities include a large gym offering five-a-side football, basketball and table tennis, and a well-equipped exercise room. Activities for service users who are granted Section 17 leave include gardening at our off-site allotment, ten-pin bowling or day trips.
Everyone has a primary nurse who develops an ongoing relationship with them. We use this relationship as the basis for other members of our multi-disciplinary team of psychiatric, medical, teaching and support specialists to add their individual skills. We tailor the therapy programme for each person, sensitively taking into account their individual needs.
