All geared towards maintaining our position as the premier supplier of PVC-u conservatories in the North West.

First off they measured all wrong and on the day of the fit the frames turned up and the fitters started looking very concerned. Turns out all the frames are undersized to varying degrees some of them badly so. Once they found out there were packing strips available they had a load of them sent over and started packing the frames left, right, top and bottom. Some of the windows had two strips of 1inch packing added on all sides. They tried to make us accept some of the worst fittings windows with 1 inch plastic strips covering a gap at the top where the frame is supposed to meet the internal windowsill! After stressing we were unhappy with this situation the eventually replaced 3 of the windows with new frames that fitted properly!
At this stage we had replaced 17 windows around the back of the house and were planning to continue and replace 15 more windows at the front of the house. Having seen what happened to the back of our home we decided to take a step back.
As the heavy rains came towards the end of last year we saw pools of water forming in both upstairs bathrooms and during a refit of the bathroom in our back bedroom the installers alerted us to the fact that water was entering the wall cavities through the window frames. You could see daylight peering through the gaps in the windows in both these upstairs bathrooms.
More recently my wife reported several damp patches that appeared in the corners of the window in some of the upstairs rooms, most noticeably in the back bedroom. As the strong winds arrived towards the end of last year we now realised it was possible to feel the cold wind blowing in at the at the corner of some of the upstairs windows, this was particularly bad in the back bedroom window which was demonstrating the worse damp patches. We decided to remove a small section of the sealant from the corner of this window to reveal a gap between the window frame and the wall, another frame that did not fit properly!
As Crystal windows are sole agent for the evolution storm windows in our area (Cheshire) we are now stuck with a house that has UPVC evolution storm windows on the rear and the original wood windows at the front of the house, at least they don’t leak water!
