Short profile:
The Crown Inn Hotel, Horton-in-Ribblesdale near Settle, is situated in the beautiful Ribble Valley, right beside the river Ribble, and is one of the few hotels in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North Yorkshire which actually stands on the Pennine Way.
This traditional Yorkshire Inn, which is popular with walkers attempting the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, (all three within 12 hours) serves harty pub food, is centrally located amid the Yorkshire Three Peaks - Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough, Whernside, and The Crown is just minutes from the Penn-y-ghent Cafe - the starting point of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
PLEASE NOTE: Accommodation is scarce in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and in high demand at weekends, therefore we advise you to book well in advance. Our regular guests tend to book their next visit upon departure.
The Crown is just a four minute walk from the train station. Horton lies on the scenic Leeds, Settle to Carlisle railway line.
Detailed description:
There are some bedrooms which are en-suite, whilst others are conventional double bedrooms and single bedrooms with a sink. There are also two family rooms for parents who wish to keep their younger children with them. Apart from the en-suite rooms, five of the others have showers, and all have hot and cold water washing facilities. There are also another two additional bathrooms. One of the ground floor rooms has wheelchair access and is suitable for disabled people. Just across the car park are two cottages which are used as annexes to the hotel and, whilst offering further accommodation for the larger parties, can also be used as en-suite facilities for those who require that little extra privacy.
There is some storage for equipment and we have a private car park. For long distance walkers we have a local bag-forwarding service on request. The cosy bar area has a log fire, which is popular after the summer season. Our Cask Marque award ensures a good pint. We stock Theakston's Old Peculier, Black Sheep, various whiskies and wines popular with our diners.
The Crown Inn is not the Ritz but we offer good honest food, drink, shelter and hospitality to all of you who wish to come and enjoy the Yorkshire Dales. PLEASE NOTE: Come prepared! No equipment / clothing can be bought in Horton and the weather is unpredictable in the Yorkshire dales. If travelling in small groups, make sure you have several maps, bags, phones in case you get separated. (not everyone is as fit as they think they are!; -) See our website for further details. Come and join us in the beautiful dales.
