Short profile:
Crossroads in Wirral started in 1979 with a steering group and became an up & running scheme in 1981. In 1990 the Wirral and Ellesmere Port & Neston schemes merged. Late last year 2008 and early this year 2009 we merged with two other schemes - Chester Crossroads and West area of the South Cheshire Crossroads. After the merge it was decided that we needed a new title combining all schemes, so we became CHESHIRE WEST & WIRRAL CROSSROADS. We are a member of the National Association of Crossroads Schemes.
Detailed description:
We aim to provide a flexible and adaptable service that meets the needs of individual carers and those they care for. We cover the whole range of age and disability, ranging from children with autism to older people with dementia. Our staff also gives the all-important emotional support to carers.
Our highly trained care staff can take over your caring responsibilities, so that you can have a break. Our staff can visit daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. This break can be essential to allow the carer to ‘re-charge their batteries’, enabling them to continue their caring role.
By using our services, the carers have time to themselves - to go out, catch up with friends and family, keep up with hobbies and pastimes that they enjoy or to work, the CARER is free to do whatever they like. Safe in the knowledge that the person they care for is in safe hands.
