Short profile:
Cromer High School is a mixed 11 - 16 foundation school with 517 students on roll and has been a sports college since September 2010.
The school day consists of five sixty minute lessons, starting at 08.20am. There is a 15 minute break at 10.20am and a 35 minute lunch break at 12.35pm. Tutor time is at 2.15pm until school finishes at 2.35pm.
At Cromer High School we aim to ensure that all our students, whatever their ability, reach the highest level of achievement possible. Our school is dedicated to the principles of equal opportunities, and strives to create a caring community which demonstrates respect for one another, along with understanding and tolerance of different cultures and faiths.
We believe that it is important for our young people to succeed and apply what they learn at home and school to equip them for a successful future.
Detailed description:
We have an active PE department which provides a wide range of physical activities. Hockey, netball, rounders, football, cricket, athletics, gymnastics and others including golf and wind surfing are available to all. House teams compete against each other and school teams take part in county competitions.
There is a music department supported by peripatetic teachers and theory and practice is incuded.
We have a newly combined Art, Design and Technology Department.
We encourage students to participate in Drama, which is integral to our English Department, and to join the Debating Society.
We organise trips in this country and abroad to foster educational and self improvement. These culminate in a week devoted entirely to pupils being offered a wide range of activities to suit their needs and abilities.
We offer 4 curriculum routes catering for all abilities and inerests and are leaders in developing the 14-19 agenda in North Norfolk.The curriculum offers single Science and additional Science. French, German and Spanish are on offer to reflect our status as a Specialist M.F.L. College.
Students are able to enter into academic competitions and events with other schools both at home and abroad and enjoy doing so.
