Short profile:

Our Manchester restaurant is where we began in 2000, and is located in the heart of the city centre.

There's no need to book for tables of fewer than six people, but if your party is six or more please ring us to book a table ( except on a Saturday night when we don't take bookings).

Our spacious basement is available to hire free of charge for parties and celebrations, and can accommodate up to 50 people. If you're interested in hiring the space please call us.

You can also purchase gift vouchers from any of our restaurants, so why not treat your nearest and dearest.

Detailed description:

Croma was launched in 2000 by ex Pizza Express team Andrew Bullock, Bob Dunn and Lottie Hollinworth. It began in Manchester city centre, in a mere shell of a building on Clarence Street, and after major structural refurbishment we launched in November of that year. We promptly won the City Life Newcomer Award 2000, and continued building Croma's reputation as one of Manchester city centre's leading independent eateries.

We opened our Chorlton restaurant in 2005 along with Kirsty Marshall, closely followed by our Prestwich restaurant in 2007.

Our priority has always been to provide affordable and good quality food in stylish surroundings, which we hope we've achieved and maintained over the last ten years.

We take pride in our food, and shop locally for the best ingredients. We don't source cheaply from national suppliers. Our produce comes from across the region, and we work with suppliers to bring you the best tasting food.

Our bread comes from Barbekan in Chorlton; our fish from Out of the Blue in Chorlton; our black pudding from Bury Black Pudding Co; our ice cream from Cheshire Farm Ice Cream and Hill's Dairy in the Forest of Bowland; our Italian produce comes from G&O in Manchester and Amato in Stockport, and our scrumptious puddings from Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding Co in Cumbria. So you can see we truly do shop locally!

We also use Produce Partners based in Manchester centre who provide us with the best seasonal vegetables and fruit.

All of our restaurants have been designed by Italian designer and restauranter Enzo Apicella. Citied by The Guardian as one of five people in the 1960s who altered Britain's visual culture and opened up a whole generation's cognisance of pleasure, legendary food critic Fay Maschler said that he "was responsible for ridding Italian restaurants of raffia-clad Chianti bottles and plasctic grapes hanging on fabric vines".
