Connexions is a free and friendly service for all young people living in Cheshire and Warrington. We can give you information, advice and practical help with all sorts of things that might be affecting you at school, college, work or in your personal or family life. If you’re 13-19, and wanting advice on getting to where you want to be in life, we’re here to help. We help you to make good career choices and succeed in education, employment or training. This helps improve your prospects and chances of a better future and lifestyle. If more personal issues — such as health, homelessness and relationships — are affecting your choices and progress we can offer help with these by working with other support agencies. These include health and youth services. We also provide support up to the age of 25 if you have a learning difficulties.

Detailed description:

Targets and impact measures for our organisation are set and monitored by external bodies such as the DCSF, Local Authorities and the National Youth Agency (NYA) and are all aimed at improving the outcomes for young people. A large number of these targets such as Teenage mothers into employment, education and training target are shared with partner agencies such as the Primary Care Trust (PCT) and are set and monitored in the context of the Children’s Trust in each area.

We all want the best for our children – sometimes the changes in education and the workplace make us feel out of touch and unable to help. Although you might think you don’t know where to start, and that you need to leave it to others to give this advice, you are a very important part of your child’s thinking about their future – what you say or do matters to them. We often have quite a limited idea of jobs from what we do, television programmes or friends and neighbours. Try to help them look at all the things they could do and see how getting more qualifications can help them get a job with better pay and a good future. Sometimes its hard to know what steps to take to move on in work and life. This is were our specially trained Careers Advisers can help. Help young people make the right choices for a successful transition into adult life, Identify those young people who may need additional help to overcome personal difficulties and obstacles to learning and progression, Maximise the number of young people participating in education, employment and training, and access activities to help them make the most of their free time.
