Short profile:
Community Access Network Ltd established since 1991 is a community living project which promotes integrated community living opportunities. We currently have three residential homes, each with three residents who are called tenants. Each house operates from a philosophy of ‘normal living’ and staff and clients soon establish themselves within the local social networks, giving clients the opportunity to integrate into the community in a positive and supported way in line with the requirements of Care in the Community.
All the houses focus on integration, empowerment and evolving to adapt to individual needs within a realistic and interesting lifestyle. In addition to our residential homes we offer Outreach support that is available to everyone living in the local community, regardless of your abilities.
Whether on a regular or one-off, our service will provide the support you need to make your daily life easier, we can even help you to access funding.
Detailed description:
Our emphasis is that people are individuals, and each individual has his/her own unique personality and needs. Our aim is to enhance this individuality and not stunt it. Residential Accommodation is provided for adults with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. Our homes are small houses set in residential areas and provide accommodation for three people. Each house is staffed on a 24 hour basis including a member of staff sleeping in.
Clients have their own room which they can furnish as they wish and are provided with food, heat, light, clothes washing facilities and pay phone. Clients take an active role in running the household through regular meetings and involvement with the other residents. Clients are supported in taking up social and recreational activities and in maintaining social contacts with families and friends and going away on holiday. They are introduced to local groups and register with local services e.g.
GP, Dentist, Optician, specialist input is arranged as requiredThe focus of our philosophy is predominantly humanistic and we work with the agreed needs identified in the service user plan in a way that values the individual. The Community Access Network service is user led and operates through: pro-active community development, regular service appraisal involving client feedback, client participation in formal house meetings, client involvement in how their house is run, annual reviews, care plans, multi-disciplinary working, anti-discriminatory/anti-oppressive practice.
