Detailed description:
Our four year residential programme, drama productions and sporting events give pupils opportunities to develop self-confidence and team-working skills. Additional day visits linked to the curriculum give a wealth of learning activities. A variety of extra-curricular club activities happen at lunchtimes and after school. A large number of pupils regularly participate. School teams take part in matches against other local schools. The school is used as a venue for area tournaments in Basketball, Netball, Football and Rounders. Musical opportunities are well developed and many children are talented musicians. The school runs an orchestra and a choir and there are also clubs which promote artistic and intellectual skills.
Drama and dance feature strongly in class assemblies and whole school productions-95% of children participate. Our children also benefit from some specialist teaching programmes at Chilwell School, a recent example being Design Technology. The school participates in an annual Dance Festival at Chilwell School with our family partner schools. We also organise special themed days linked to the curriculum - Victorian Days and Roman Days being examples
