COLCHESTER SCHOOL OF GYMNASTICS

We also have a National Level Judge and several General and Regional level judges to ensure that any gymnast taking part in competitions has the best possible information available to them regarding the moves they must perform. We hold County and General Level Competitions at the school several times a year for which we enlist coaching staff, committee members, parents and gymnasts as helpers. We are linked to Colchester Borough Council's bid to host an Olympic Team for 2012 as a training venue. How We Work --- CSG has a long established affiliation with the British Gymnastics Association (BGA) and continues to work to develop access to and awareness of gymnastics with pre-schools, schools and youth organisations within the local community and throughout the Region. All of our coaches are qualified to the appropriate level and all staff and committee members are CRB checked.

CSG has adopted BG policies for Equity, Codes of Conduct and Child Protection for which Welfare Officers have been appointed. All officials, coaches, members and parents must adhere to these. Many of our young gymnasts achieve regional and national recognition whilst children in our Recreational gymnastics classes follow the BAGA awards scheme. These high standards have led to us being awarded the prestigious GymMark and ClubSX Gold Accreditations.

OUR FACILITIES --- The 6, 000 square foot gymnasium includes a sprung floor, foam filled pit area and all the space and equipment necessary for both boys and girls. Here is a selection of the apparatus available for use during training: THE PIT AREA - The pit area, filled with polystyrene foam allows gymnasts to attempt difficult elements with increased safety and confidence - it's one of the key elements of any modern gymnasium. BARS - Our bars are easily adjustable and are used in all classes by all standards of gymnast. POMMEL AREA - A range of different sized apparatus, geared towards progressional skills.
