What a waste of good money. The cream tasted like it was out of date and had been standing in warm conditions. i bought ten pounds worth of products which had to be discarded, the bread was dry and tasted like cardboard. Not a good purchase at all. I went to A... and bought there wholemeal bread for a sixth of the price and it lasted 3 days. I won't be wasting my money in Clwyd Bakeries Talacre or Prestatyn again. Roll on T... and M... in Prestatyn, the buildings are going up and it should see the end of Clwyd Bakeries and their inflated priced, poor quality products, they will not be ripping me off again. How anyone can bear to sit on those uncomfortable seats in their Prestatyn shop, beggars belief. Bacon sat in the window looking greasy for dry bread baps.. Yuk. Janette and Family from Talacre.

I have always enjoyed my visit to both of the shops in Talacre and Prestatyn. The bread and cakes are fresh and excellant value for money. As the size of cakes are out of this world!!

    Clwyd Bakeries

There is a lot of people that don't return to Clwyd Bakeries bakery due to the fact that the products are not of a consistent quality and do not stay fresh. The original Henllan and Village Bakeries offer a better quality, finer tasting consistent service and they are to be found on the Prestatyn High Street in many of the established bake shops which were originally in place before Clwyd Bakeries opened their shop. The smaller shops are best and we want to see the High Street small shops thrive. What is not acceptable is a larger shop wanting the monopoly and trying to drive the smaller shops to the wall with flooding the High Street with inferior quality produce. We campaign to keep the small shops such as Serve u Right going, since this is what our High Street is about, offering a service which is long term, consistent and known for Quality. Support the Village Award Winning Bakery and Henllan, known for excellence.

    • spencer:interesting point but it is my understanding that Clwyd Bakeries used to deliver their produce to 'Serve u right' as part of their wholesale so this is quite a hypocrytical view if you ask me. In my opinion the bakery in Prestatyn is just what Prestatyn needed and I'm sure many will agree! And regardless of your comment it is always very busy whenever I am passing through Prestatyn. But im sure people will make their own judgement on this once they have visited the bakery themselves. I worked in the talacre bakery a few years ago for a short period of time but thought it was so refreshing to see bread and cakes cooked fresh every day and would recommend you tried Clwyd Bakeries for yourselves :)

Clwyd Bakery sells the best bread and cakes ever! It's always freash and the shop provides an excellent service to the customers I was very pleased and walked out of the shop with a smile on my face and a crum or to! I really enjoy talacre as a whole and think it's a nice and welcoming place to stay and also very good with familys with children the bakery just adds to the whole thing I can still taste and smell the freash cream on my lips now.

    • Clwyd Bakeries, North Wales: We have been very disappointed with the taste and shelf life of the bread from Clwyd Bakeries. Very often the cakes are turning before we get chance to enjoy them as well. Not the best and lets hope for a GREGGS BAKERY or SAYERS BAKERY in Prestatyn High Street. The shape and appearance of products is not always good and often a turn off, not impressed. Would not recommend Clwyd Bakeries products and would not buy from there since I have paid top prices for poor products that just do not last.

I live near by talacre and it's famous bakery! I am a local and fine the cakes, bread and pies delicious! They are always freash and they always taste really good. I buy my bread everyday from the bakery and will not shop anywhere else! The shop itself is always very clean and staff are very very polite and are always willing to help and provide you with a good service! Also staff are always willing to have a chat with the customer! This bakery is excellent and I recommend it to anyone who is visiting talacre! It's well worth going to and paying a visit.

    • Clwyd Bakeries poor service and inferior quality confectionery: Having struggled to Prestatyn to the local High Street and purchased a bag full of bread and cakes from Clwyd Bakeries, I am unhappy with the expensive cost of my purchases and that the bread did not last until the next day. A waste of a journey and not satisfactory, I will not be visiting again. Very very Disappointed indeed!

    Hairy, tasteless cream cakes

Not a positive purchase at all, having been to Talacre for the week, we two were greeted by a miserable middle aged looking attendant with long hair dangling near the cakes. Not nice. The bread did not last and from previous reviews, I endorse the fact that this bakery has gone into a decline by comparison with the other local leading bakeries in North Wales which are excellent, e.g. Henllan and Harry's Pies of Flint.

Customers like to feel that their cream tastes like cream, not synthetic poor shelf life substitutes. Not to be recommended. I understand that Mark and Spencer will open in Prestatyn at some point, this would be welcomed.

I also lived in Talacre many moons ago and often visited the bakery at the bottom of Station Rd. I hadn't been to Talcre for many years until last month, so I decided to take trip down memory lane and visit the small bakery I had been to many times before as a child, it was like walking through heavens gates with the smell of fresh baked bread and the wonderful choice of fresh cream cakes and the service standard was just as high. Talacre is well worth a visit just for the bakery.

I used to visit this bakery daily when I was a child, living in Talacre was absolute heaven then. I have been back to visit and I am so disappointed by the demise of the bakery and loss of quality of the bakery. It is a sign of the times, 2009 and decline. I wish I could turn the clock back to how it was twenty years ago.

    • Talacre camper: Disappointing, unhelpful staff and poor quality of cakes and bread which soon goes off, I was also overcharged, make sure you go through your bill closely and keep everything well refrigerated as it may have been standing for a while in the shop.
    • Canal Girl: I got the Sticky Toffee Muffin baked by the Clwyd bakery 27 June 2009. It was out of this world wonderful. It was huge. My family of 4 helped me eat every delicious crumb. All their muffins looked good. I, too, miss the bakeries of old with fresh grainery bread every morning and wonderful gateaus that sold out by 10:30 A.M. Clwyd Bakery and a bakery in Ellsmere are as close to the days of the 1970's and 80's as we are going to get these days. Anybody willing to share Clwyd Bakery's Sticky Toffee Muffin recipe?
    • Julie - Talacre Beach Holiday Camp: My experience of the old Talacre bakery was excellent too. I had a chalet for many years. But will be glad that Tesco and Marks and Spencer will soon be open in Prestatyn. The Clwyd Bakeries products are not up to a fresh standard and the bread does deteriorate very quickly. The Village Bakery and Henllan local bread products are so much better quality and value. I too have been been short changed in this little bakery shop, not good. I know the bakery in Ellesmere and agree that it is excellent. I do like good quality items, good service and consistent produce. None of these attributes are available in today's bakery at Talacre beach, Clwyd Bakeries have over stretched their capacity and seem to be trying to deliver to any outlet, it has let the quality down and the cost has gone so high there, roll on the expansion of the Village Bakery and Henllan Bakery, quality has always been assured.

    • Leigh: An expensive visit and uncomfortable seating in Prestatyn. The bread did not remain fresh the next day and was certainly not up to the high standard of the Village Bakery and Henllan Bakery.
