Short profile:
Cloch Housing Association is a provider of rented and shared ownership accommodation based in Greenock in the west coast of Scotland.
Cloch Housing Association celebrated 40 years of service during 2008.
The association was originally formed on the 16th January 1968 as a charitable non profit making organisation under the name of Christian Action ( Greenock ) Housing Association Ltd. At that time its objective was to provide suitable and affordable housing for rent to stem the flow of young families leaving the area.
Detailed description:
Scottish Housing Connections is a consortium of 22 housing associations throughout West and Central Scotland. The housing associations have chosen to jointly work together to provide a good quality housing .
We provide a one stop shop website giving you access to information on all the Associations. Over time we hope to improve the services available on line. Feedback should be sent to either one of the housing associations using their Contacts page or to Wendy Hughes, Drumchapel Housing Co-operative.
Housing Associations in Scotland, also known as Registered Social landlords (RSL’s) provide housing for people in housing needs.
Many RSL’s in Scotland are run at a very local community level allowing local people to have their say in housing in their area.
As well as managing our existing stock, housing associations also build new housing for rent and for sale under the shared ownership and homestake schemes.
Wider Role work now takes a prominent role in the work of the Associations. Wider Role work means that we can work in the communities to provide community facilities, train and develop the skills of local people and interact with many groups in the community including the young and the elderly.
Another service we provide is factoring to private owners. Many of the Housing Associations also manage factoring for both flats and housing estates.
