Short profile:
The Clinical Immunology and Allergy service is based on the Northern campus of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. It offers a sub-regional service for: Allergy, Primary Immunodeficiency, Hereditary Angioedema, Home Therapy Training. The Home Therapy training Programme for immunoglobulin and C1 inhibitor is undertaken in the dedicated Clinical Immunology and Allergy Unit utilising a competency-based programme. Out patient clinics and day case services are held daily.
Detailed description:
There is one dedicated PID ward round and one PID clinic per week, at least one allergen challenge clinic and one allergen desensitisation clinic. Patients requiring urgent assessment are seen in the Day unit during normal working hours. CIAU staff are available for telephone advice from other multidisciplinary team members.
Primary immunodeficiency patients can also contact the medical nursing staff directly for advice. A telephone follow-up service is available.
Patient with Hereditary angioedema are able to access the clinic directly in normal working hours for urgent assessment and emergency therapy.
