Short profile:
City Jazz was founded by Sam Sharp upon completion of his Masters in jazz from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and formalises many years of performing experience on the jazz scene and at public and private events. Sam played his first paid “function gig” aged 13 and since then has had the pleasure of performing all over the world, including concerts at the Montreux, North Sea and London jazz festivals, and at many prestigious venues such as the South Bank Centre Halls, Christie’s, the Royal Albert Hall, and Buckingham Palace.
He is comfortable at exclusive hotels, restaurants, clubs and boats, but also revels in the intimacy of village fetes, barns and ad hoc jams in peoples’ living rooms. He has appeared on television and radio on numerous occasions, and has even busked “misty” at the top of a mountain in Switzerland with an alpine horn player to the delight of the local musical convention going on at the time.

In addition to Sam’s musical pedigree, he has also worked as a consultant in the city in his time, and so realises the importance of running a successful business by maintaining a professional standard and fostering good relationships. He ensures the highest quality by only hiring fellow professionals, all of whom have trained to at least undergraduate level at a reputable music college.
