Short profile:

We consider that our school is a very happy and dynamic place to learn in. Our staff work extremely hard to achieve excellent standards of teaching and learning and continually review and reflect on their work in order to meet the needs of each individual. We place great emphasis on the need for each child to develop the skills to be confident, adaptable, independent and self disciplined learners within a learning environment that celebrates success, promotes thinking and enables children to feel happy and secure. Our most recent Ofsted report (December 2008) acknowledged our many strengths and high standards. All members of our school community are actively encouraged to work together to meet the aims of our school and to ensure that each child receives the best possible education here, developing the skills and attitudes to continue learning as a life-long activity.

Detailed description:

Parents are actively encouraged to take part in the life and work of our school. We are very proud of the very good parent partnership that exists here and the commitment our parents show in supporting their child’s learning at home.

Our school is keen to be actively involved in the local community. We consider that the development of strong links with many local organisations including the Army and RAF is of mutual benefit and we therefore encourage our children and families to support local events and enterprises.

We hope that you will want to come and visit our school, talk to the children and staff and experience at first hand the excellent facilities and opportunities we offer our children here.

We are very proud of our extensive grounds. We are always looking at ways of improving our school site and our School Association and parental volunteers have helped enormously in developing areas of our grounds.

Thanks to several grounds clearing days we now have an outdoor classroom and our fitness trail is accessible. Our Nepalese Garden is a beautiful reminder of the close links between our school and the Gurkha soldiers in the former Queen Elizabeth Barracks nearby. We have developed our pond area into a Wildlife Garden and provided improved seating areas for our pupils during play times.
