Christ Church First School is a first school in Frome, Somerset We have nursery class up to a year 4 class and a nurture group
Detailed description:
An outstanding range of extra-curricular activities supports pupil's learning. Pupils are given as wide a range of experience as possible with a high emphasis on promoting the arts. Local art galleries, theatres, artists and musicians regularly provide interesting and stimulating activities. The local environment is used well with Forest School providing pupils with lots of opportunities to develop their emotional and social skills as well as engaging in environmental studies. Pupils in Year 3 learn Polish and pupils in Year 4 learn French. All pupils in Year 4 take part in the Wider Opportunities music programme; this year they have been learning Samba. Keyboard and drumming lessons are also available to all pupils.
Other activities include; swimming, tag rugby, football, cricket, dance, multi skills, rounders and choir.
All Year 4 children have the opportunity to attend a 3 day "outward bound" activity camp.
We involve the children in decision making and promote participation through Circle Time activity. The children raise money for both local, national & international charities. Older children have also been involved in interviewing for new members of staff.
Strong links exist with the Church.
