We are Anglican, part of the Church of England, understanding ourselves to be available to all people and committed to the parish system, that is to serve our local community. Being in the Islington area we are part of the Diocese of London under the leadership of Bishop Richard Chartres and we take belonging to the local family of churches very seriously. Our local area bishop is Bp Stephen Oliver and we are part of the Stepney Area of the Diocese. We believe that to achieve real change in society we need to be committed to one another, however difficult that may be in practice.
Detailed description:
Jesus Christ is at the heart of who we are, what we believe and why we do what we do. We want to be a community that gathers around him and lives out the kind of lifestyle that he so perfectly demonstrated. We believe that Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ and in common with other Christians we seek to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught. INCLUSIVITY We want anyone and everyone to feel that they belong with us and we want to reflect this in welcoming each person we meet, whatever their story, beliefs or lifestyle.
We firmly believe that God loves and values every single human being, and has actively included everyone in his invitation to share in the promise of a new hope for a better future. INVOLVEMENT Far too often Christianity has been accused of being a 'nice set of beliefs' but of no practical good to the world. We believe differently; we believe in a faith that works and has the potential to change the world into the place God intended it to be.
Individuals are encouraged to think about how, when and where their God-given gifts can be put to use in his world. This might be through working with others to deliver activities and programmes that the church runs in our area, or by reflecting Christ’s example in their day-to-day life. Our aim is to support everyone as they strive towards this.
