The Chislehurst Psychotherapy and Counselling Group Practice is an independent practice that offers a wide range of psychotherapeutic services to individuals and to educational establishments. The practitioners at the clinic are all fully trained and experienced in work involving adults, children, parents, families and in offering services to schools and education. All practitioners adhere closely to the various codes of ethical practice laid out by their associative governing bodies
Detailed description:
A number of psychotherapists at the practice have trained at The Tavistock Clinic in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with children. This form of therapy has at its foundation the detailed observation and understanding of conscious and unconscious communications. Child Psychotherapists can treat children, adolescents, parents and families who present with a wide range of psychiatric and emotional difficulties not easily addressed by alternative methods of treatment.
Work can be carried out on a long term basis but this does not necessarily have to be the case. Child Psychotherapists also see children and families with less severe issues and therefore shorter interventions may be offered which last between 6 and 30 sessions.
Child Psychotherapy Assessments and reports for other mental health professionals can also be undertaken. Before any piece of work is begun a full assessment of the child/ young person and or family’s needs will be carried out.
