With reasonable notice we can provide a translation service for most languages.
Detailed description:
There is a programme of child development checks run in conjunction with the Health Visitors. You will automatically be invited to attend the surgery when your child’s immunisations are due. Contraception – if you wish to discuss contraception, please see either Marlene Cann or Pauline Bird, or in their absence your usual doctor. Emergency Contraception – please ask for a same day appointment with either Marlene Cann, Pauline Bird or one of the doctors. Some pharmacists are also able to issue emergency contraception. Planning to get pregnant – a leaflet 'Pre-Conceptual Advice' is available from reception, please discuss any questions with your doctor. Pregnant - either inform your doctor, or the receptionist can take details to pass on to the midwife who will be in touch with you direct about visiting you at home in the first instance. Counselling services are available by arrangement with your doctor. If you have wax in your ears causing symptoms such as deafness or irritation, we will ask you to use ear drops for three weeks. Ear drops can be purchased from a pharmacy, or you can simply use olive oil (there is a leaflet available from reception about how to administer the oil). Lie on your side with the bad ear up, and put a couple of drops into your ear. Stay in that position for 5 minutes to let the drops work in. If your symptoms persist you should have your ears syringed. Ear syringing can be done by the practice nurse or our healthcare assistant Paula, or at an NHS Walk-In Centre (this may be more convenient at weekends or if you work away from Crediton). We invite patients with longstanding health problems to attend for an annual review if they have any of the following conditions: asthma, blood pressure, COPD (smoker’s lung), diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease, stroke and TIA (transient ischaemic attack or mini stroke) or thyroid disease. The role of the practice nurses is expanding and they perform a lot of these reviews.
