CHERRY HINTON COMMUNITY JUNIOR SCHOOL

Updated 2 months ago

Short profile:

The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities, in sports, such as football, netball, tennis coaching from Hills Road tennis club and multi-sports coaching.  We have played competitive football and netball matches regularly against other local schools. Musical opportunities are also available, with a choir, wind band, violin and brass lessons and of course, participation in the school's annual musical production. Staff and volunteers offer a wide range of other clubs, depending on interests and aptitudes of adults and pupils alike!

Detailed description:

This year, we have offered a book group, maths, computer, sewing and knitting clubs.  Chess and street dancing have also been popular! Special events are a focus for the whole school community and this year we have all enjoyed the following Macmillan coffee morning, our Harvest Festival, with gifts donated to the Cambridge Foodbank, a  Christmas Fayre and whole school pantomime visit. We set great store by first hand learning experiences and the curriculum is enriched by a diverse variety of visits and visitors, including a trip to the Saffron Walden museum, a World War II day and a residential, adventurous visit to Grafham Water.

We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. We are about to undertake a major building programme to accommodate this expansion. The new building will include a dance studio, a large, open-plan atrium space as well as new classrooms. Our new website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils.
