CHASETOWN COMMUNITY SCHOOL

The school has implemented a broad programme of activities for the well being and  development of its pupils.  The majority of pupils are not local thereby differing opportunities for after school activities are planned. The school has a large site with an adventure playground.The playground has climbing equipment, games tables and markings for games.  All children have weekly swimming tuition  at the local  leisure centre.   A programme of team building/outdoor activities is well established.This was expanded in 2007/08 with new activities and more sessions for each class; including  skiing, cycling, orienteering, climbing, archery, canoeing and caving.  Chasewater provides opportunities for  nature trails and workshops .  Lunchtime sports clubs  provide extended school activities. Progressive Sports and Karate clubs  will continue. BMX cycles have been purchased and opportunities for cycling will be offered through  the curriculum.  The school has a well equipped ICT suite for computer clubs, and the enhancement of ICT skills.  All pupils have a mini laptop. Specialist music tuition is provided including guitar, trumpet, singing and steel drumming.  A termly music concert is in place. French will be taught from September 2009.
