CHARTERED SOCIETY OF PHYSIOTHERAPY

Short profile:

The CSP office in Wales was established in 1995 and increased in size in response to Welsh devolution, when responsibility for some devolved matters, including health, was passed to the National Assembly. The CSP Wales office represents the interests of the membership in Wales, particularly with Welsh Government in the Senedd, Cardiff Bay, and within the various Welsh Government and NHS Wales health structures. The office aims to raise the profile and influence of physiotherapy in Wales, help shape national policy in health and wellbeing, and support members at a local level. The office also provides employment relations services to members and assists the work of the CSP Welsh Board.

Detailed description:

The Welsh Board exists to support the interests of the membership in Wales. It addresses both professional and policy matters, particularly in relation to the Welsh government and NHS Wales, including practice guidelines and quality initiatives. The Board's main objectives are: Engaging: communicating with and educating members; Influencing: policy makers and stakeholders; Demonstrating: Providing evidence of physiotherapy's value; Supporting: members in Wales involved in CSP activities; Monitoring: Keeping a watching brief on developments that affect CSP members in Wales. The CSP is a member-led organisation governed by an elected Council. We provide a wide range of member services and campaign on behalf of physiotherapists and the physiotherapy profession.
