We have been a specialist Technology College since 2005 and have used the opportunities specialist status offers to develop further learning and teaching and to strengthen already good links with the local community and nearby schools.

Detailed description:
We have a wide range of extra activities as well as the five lessons every day. There are occasions when the timetable is suspended for particular activities e.g. a theatre group in relation to Personal, Social and Health Education, or in 2009 we again organised our annual highly successful Activities Week for pupils in Years 7 to 9, with Year 10 enjoying two weeks of Work Experience. The activities ranged from European visits to rock-climbing and archery.
We have a large range of successful bands, choirs and ensembles, drama productions, a musical, sports clubs and teams. Other extra-curricular opportunities include chess, art, ICT, reading, Duke of Edinburgh Award, a Young Enterprise and charity fundraising, for instance.
Our traditional catchment area has been Chapel-en-le-Frith and the surrounding villages of Buxworth, Chinley and Whaley Bridge but, in recent years, pupils have travelled from further afield, attracted by our growing reputation for high academic standards and expectations, strong pastoral care and excellence in working with pupils with special educational needs for instance.
