L HurleyI dont usually write reviews or hold the ones i read in high regard as i think sometimes they are written by people with grudges, but in this case i felt i just had too ! I also visited Chad Pool in early september 2010 and what geeted me left me open mouthed to say the least. I had'nt even unpacked my car with carp gear, when i was verbally abused by the lady owner of said lake, because i didnt ring the house door on arrival and started to walked down the lane to view the lake that i was booked on for 48hrs. A woman opened the house door and started to rant and rave abuse at me. Now considering this is a business i have never been spoken to like this in my life as i had done nothing wrong, words cannont explain how nasty, vicious and angry this woman was to me, all that needed to be said was " hello there, can i help you ". I spoke to the woman in questuion twice in the week leading up to my 48hrs to ask for directions and how the lake was fishing, not once did she state to come straight to the house and do not go and view the lake under any circumstances !!! Now however nice this lake claims to be no-one should have to put up with a barrage of abuse like that. Its not just about the fishing for me but the whole experience, beautiful peaceful surroundings, and generally relax with a bonus fish at the end of the day ! I urge anyone thinking of travelling to this lake and spending good money to think again, there are numerous lakes in the area that offer great fishing that ar'nt owned by a bitter & twisted woman that in no doubt will ruin your time on the bank !!!!!!9/11/2010 11:07:04 AM

oxonTrip duration: 24hrs duration during May 09 Scene: 3 friends, 2 of which have been fishing since a young age (ages sadly now ranging between late twenties/early thirties), all love fishing but can’t go every single week like the old good days Objective to enjoy our annual night fishing trip and just spend a bit of time chilling out, and maybe even catch a large double fish! Positives about ChadLakes: Lovely venue, kept nice and tidy in a peaceful setting! Overall catches: 1 – 14lb common 1 - 19lb Mirrow Several smaller carp MINUSES & IT’S A BIG LIST OF MINUS REASONS!! Extremely rude and stroppy owner who spoilt the whole trip from the moment we turned up! Unless you turn up with all the latest and greatest expensive gear don’t bother going because the owners are trying to make it a professional gear fishing lake ONLY and real fishing skills mean absouteltly nothing! THE LONG LIST OF THINGS MOANED ABOUT WERE: • Having an unhooking mat (which we did) – mentioned a number of times, dog with a LARGE bone comes to mind! • Where my tent was pitched – on the bank in front of my rods (that was an issue, why was it a problem???? No idea as it didn’t block the main path round the lake) • Accusing my friend of treating a fish with cruelty once he hooked it (the technique is called playing a fish and by the way he did ABSOUTELY NOTHING WRONG! If you wanted the fish to get on the bank straight away, you should consider buying a boat and diving gear so you chase it round the lake and net it once it’s touched the bait!) • Accused my other friend of not knowing how to carp fish, even though he had more than 18 years of experience, oh and not to mention the 14lb/19lb fish caught during this trip, were caught by him!!!! • Also accusing the same friend of not knowing how to place a fish on the unhooking mat correctly (total and utter rubbish and looking for a problem!!) After the final point and constant rude remarks for 18hours, ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH so we decided to pack up and leave early! If you enjoy fishing DO NOT GO TO THIS LAKE! Not only is the women VERY interfering, over the top, vicious, rude, grumpy and a grisly person her husband (or male owner of the lake) is just as bad. 2 friends turned up to see how we were getting on half way through the trip, the male owner was unbelievable rude towards one of them. Apparently he’s fed up of people just turning up and looking round his lake…….. NEWS FLASH…….IT’S A FISHING LAKE……..SELL IT IF YOU DON’T WANT PEOPLE TURNING UP IN YOUR BACK GARDEN! I wouldn’t go back to this lake if I was paid and I wouldn’t even waste one single breath on speaking AGAIN to either owner!....This lake has real potential, a number of good sized fish (early – mid 20’s) located in lovely and very popular area. Sadly the miserable fish wife that owns it, RUINS ALL THE NICE THINGS ABOUT IT!........ Hope this helps other people, because as mentioned we are serious fishermen who love the sport but wouldn’t want anyone to go through the same kind of hassle, not to mention paying £18 for the privilege. I considered telling the owners what we all thought about them at the time, but that wouldn’t have helped our situation, so I thought a review for any future reference might help instead! If you’re happy to have constant hassle by all means turn up to this lake! With any luck the owners might read this and actually think about their approach to running the lake but I seriously doubt that. 5/14/2009 5:04:28 PM
