Short profile:
The Centre for Confidence and Well being's core activities include providing information, networking interested parties and improving the quality of confidence building approaches and activities through the provision of workshops and conferences and the dissemination or development of tools for evaluation
Detailed description:
Last year the Centre held various discussions with people in Social Services in Scotland on the potential benefits of the insights and research behind Positive Psychology. The Centre also held various events - on flourishing in later life, flourishing childhoods and flourishing youth, which were also of interest to staff working in social services.
In 2008/09 the Centre is going to be working in-depth with social services staff in one local authority in Scotland. We are running four two day workshops as well as a staff conference. The content of these sessions will be a blend of the Centre's well-being and confidence agendas. More information on these workshops will be posted on the website.
We are also planning to put some specific resources for those working in social services on the website. In the meantime we have been given access to a great article written by Stewart Collins called Social Workers, Resilience, Positive Emotions and Optimism, which first appeared in Practice. You can access this article below.
