Short profile:
Osteopathy is used by people of all ages who suffer from pain, tackling complaints ranging from sports and work-related injuries to arthritis, sciatica and migraine. The osteopath's role is to alleviate pain and improve the patient's function and mobility. Osteopathy recognizes that much of the pain and disability we suffer stems from abnormalities in our body's structure and function. Osteopaths diagnose and treat problems with muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints to help the body's natural healing ability.
This way osteopaths avoid performing traditional symptomatic therapy. What good is it for example. to loosen up a joint, if the muscles and connective tissues around this part still struggle? Exactly by looking at the body as a whole and work their way into the root causes of the symptoms, osteopaths achieve effective and lasting results.
This is often seen already after a short course of osteopathic treatment.
Detailed description:
Are you in pain and not able to get better, please see one of our physiotherapists. We have a team of very experienced physiotherapists ready to help you with a mixture of treatment and rehabilitation exercises and advice. Our physiotherapists are used to both acute and chronic problems and link the muscles to the bones in their treatments. Physiotherapy is a health care profession directed at evaluating, restoring and maintaining physical function of the body. Also known as physical therapists, physiotherapists have a detailed understanding of how the body works and our physiotherapists are specially educated and trained to assess and improve movement and function and relieve pain. Physiotherapists promote good health by encouraging their clients to improve and increase control over their own lives.
Acupuncture works to help maintain our body’s equilibrium. It involves the use of very fine needles on specific points of the body to regulate the flow of ‘qi’(sometimes translated as energy) in the body. For a variety of reasons the ‘qi; can become unbalanced, which can result in symptoms such as pain and illness. Traditional acupuncture can be an effective therapy to restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony. Treatment is aimed at the root of the condition as well as the symptoms.
This approach helps to both resolve the problem and enhance feelings of wellbeing. You may notice other niggling conditions also resolve as your health improves. Acupuncture originated in China and is common in far eastern cultures, where it still features in mainstream health care. Acupuncture is now widely accepted and used all over the world and in the UK more and more people are finding out what acupuncture can do for them. Sports massage deals with the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body and has many benefits.
