There is a great deal of excellent research from the UK like the BEAM study which demonstrated that spinal manipulation combined with exercise (core chiropractic skills) is more effective than just spinal manipulation, exercise or acupuncture alone. This trial published in the BMJ demonstrated that chiropractic treatment is more effective than hospital outpatient treatment. There is further evidence from a British orthopaedic surgeon following 283 chronic low back pain sufferers, many of which were disabled with pain for an average of 6-yrs. Of those with mechanical pain an astonishing 81% improved with chiropractic treatment at one year follow-up.
