Our shared vision for Castle Primary School is of a happy, vibrant learning community, improving together. We are working with pupils, parents and the wider community to create the supportive atmosphere of trust and mutual support in which we all thrive.
Our main focus will be on raising pupils’ achievement.
There will be a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
The curriculum will be broad, balanced and forward-looking and will prepare pupils for active citizenship.
Detailed description:
Our school was opened on its present site in 1978. It is situated in pleasant surroundings within a short distance of the village centre, yet within close proximity to Collingbourne Woods.
We are fortunate enough to have a large amount of space inside and out. Inside we have nine large classrooms. All Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and lower Key Stage Two classrooms have direct access to the outside to enhance their learning experiences. We have dedicated music, family learning and modern foreign languages rooms. Alongside our well equipped school ICT suite we also have a second suite of Apple Macintoshes for editing and design.
We currently have a fitness trail, sports field, nature garden, two playgrounds and a large grassy area for children to play on. Further planned improvements have been designed and are being implemented by a playground design club. We are always open to new suggestions and ideas on how to make the school even better – parent pupil opinions are very important to us. We are proud of the facilities we are currently able to provide, however we are committed to a continuous programme of further developments to improve the education we can provide. Future planned developments include achieving national accreditations for being an ECO school and gaining Artsmark and Activemark.
