Short profile:
Our mission is to develop high performance, flexible and cost-effective network solutions. We achieve this by designing, developing, and manufacturing a range of network products, based on industry standard hardware and open source software, which support a wide range of option modules, making the solutions truly scalable and 'future proof'.
Detailed description:
Case is a company with a fine pedigree. We started life in the 1970s near Watford in England as Computer and Systems Engineering. The business grew dramatically in the early 1980s after we brought our world famous DCX networking statistical multiplexer to market.
DCX was one of the first products to provide advanced networking features such as, user switching, load balancing, automatic re-routing and a series of gateways to provide conversion from one protocol to other protocols.
Case went on to be Europe's largest manufacturer of LAN products and one of the world's most successful communications firms, opening offices world wide, and producing state of the art technology.
In 1988 Case was purchased by the Dowty group and we became Dowty-Case.
We were the sixth largest communications company in the world and the largest manufacturer of local area networking equipment within Europe. We pioneered some of today's leading technologies, and sat on multiple standards bodies.
In 1993 Cray Electronics purchased Case and the company became known as Cray. In 1997 Cray sold its UK division to Cable & Wireless and its LAN division to Intel.
