CARTER MARQUEES

Carter Marquees is the marquee division of Carter & Son (Thatcham) Ltd – a well known family business, based in Reading, which has been in existence since 1830. Originally the company manufactured rope and was based in Kingsclere but over the years it has diversified into marquees and frame tents.

Carter & Son (Thatcham) Ltd also run an outdoor sports shop called Carters and sell snow and outdoor sports equipment. It is located in Reading on the Caversham Road.

We have a wide range of linings to decorate the inside of our marquees. These can be “themed” to match flowers, other decorations, table cloths or corporate colours.

We are often asked to provide flooring in our marquees. We can offer boarded flooring covered with carpet or coconut matting laid direct on the ground over an underlay. We also supply dance floor and staging.

There is no need to worry that your marquee is going to be cold. Ducted heating can be installed where the temperature is controlled by thermostat.

We can provide any type of furniture that is required from a basic folding chair for conferences through to banqueting chairs. These are available in a choice of frame and seat colour options. There are also many types of table from trestles for catering to round tables for dining and white resin or teak furniture for use outdoors.

Lighting is a very important aspect of any function in setting the scene. It ranges from traditional chandeliers through to spots and up lighters – all of which can be controlled by dimmers. We can also arrange for your garden or venue to be floodlit to pick out attractive features.

Often we are asked for awnings. These can be to connect a marquee to a house, a complete walkway or a short length as main entrance. These can be with or without doors.
