Short profile:

At Tiptoe Farm in the beautiful River Till Valley in Northumberland, North East England, we grow over 17 varieties of Heritage Potatoes. Each one specially grown to provide you with gourmet eating qualities - excellent flavours, textures, colours, shapes, and a taste of history. As from December 06 we are selling Heritage Potato seed

Tiptoe Farm is situated 8 miles west of Berwick-upon-Tweed, and 6 miles from the Scottish Border at Coldstream.

The Carroll ethos is one of growing with the countryside and to this end we practice Linking the Environment and Farming (LEAF). The environmental work we do was recognised in September 06 when Tiptoe Farm was awarded the accolade of the Most Beautiful Farm In Britain Award.

We proudly feature in well known North-East Chef's Book Quest for Taste.

Detailed description:

The Carroll family have farmed at Tiptoe since the 1930's. We have lived and worked at Tiptoe since 1986. We farm with care for the environment using Integrated Farm Management.

Carroll's Heritage Potatoes began before the start of the Millennium in our small kitchen garden! We enjoyed growing, cooking and eating these unusual varieties, so in 2002 we decided to grow 6 varieties on a 5 acre plot, and share our enthusiasm with the public and sell them at our local Farmer's Market in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The business has grown, and now we are growing 20 different varieties on approximately 50 acres. We sell them directly to our customers, including Retail and catering establishments. We store, grade, pack and distribute them locally, regionally, and Internationally from Tiptoe Farm. We offer a fully traceable food Production system.
