Short profile:
We offer many extra-curricular activities. In 2005 we received a plaque from the Local Authority recognising this: activities included art, dance, gymnastics, football, netball, high fives, cricket and rounders; and a similar award in 2007.Within school time we take advantage of providers who lead workshops in dance, music, (we now have our own set of African Drums), tennis, cricket, football etc.Years 3 and 4 (8-10 year olds) are learning to speak Spanish, while year 6 children are working through the DARE programme with PC Clark. We visit many places such as Bestwood Park, the local Mosque, Magna, White Post Farm. Many visitors to school will lead a variety of workshops. Participation in the activities is carefully monitored to make sure that all children are involved.
Detailed description:
Through our school statement “Carrington Quality and Care” we agree to
promote Equal Opportunities and Inclusion through:
continually providing the highest quality and standard of appropriate; education within a secure, stimulating and caring environment.
enabling all children to develop their individual potential to the full; encouraging all children to develop the beliefs and values of their own
culture within the school community.
using our diverse cultural richness to develop respect, understanding and
tolerance for the beliefs and backgrounds of others.
helping each child to recognise and value the importance and uniqueness
of their own identity.
nurturing all children so that they will develop self-esteem, good
relationships, a sense of belonging and personal responsibility.
providing our children with experiences which will prepare them for the
demands and responsibilities of life.
These seven aims are clearly linked with all aspects of our School
Improvement Plan as we take the school forward.
Children in the Nursery and Reception class make up our Foundation Stage.
Within this we aim to provide a clear programme of structured activities that
will enable the children to approach the National Curriculum with
confidence. We follow the government’s six learning goals through a
programme of structured play.
